JWD International – Well Optimization
JWD International markets a unique line of well optimization tools for pumping oil wells. Their products are easily installed on conventional pumping systems without major modifications to pumps or pumping units.
No Tap Tool
The No Tap Tool addresses one of the most common issues affecting sucker rod pumps. Gas interference. Produced gas displaces fluid and thus, reduces pump efficiency. The solution in the field is to cause the travelling assembly (from the plunger to the polished rod) to impact the stationary assembly (standing valve, barrel and seating assembly) at the bottom of the stroke. This impact causes a violent vibration on every stroke to jar the pump valves and let the trapped gas move through the pump. This process is called “tagging or tapping bottom”. Although this can help move trapped gas and restore some pump efficiency, repeated contact downhole can cause damage leading to premature or total pump failure. The No Tap Tool mimics the impact effect without the pump components actually making contact. There are other tools out there to help minimize gas interference, but they require modifications to the pump assembly. The No Tap Tool can be easily installed at the pump repair facility or in the field without modifications. Pumping can be resumed normally with the same benefit of tapping bottom without damaging the pump.
